My Journey into Tech

  1. High School

I first dipped my toes into the world of computer technology during high school. Frustrated with my slow laptop at the time, I researched ways to speed it up. From the advice I found on the internet, I ended up increasing the amount of RAM and upgrading my hard drive to an ssd. I was amazed with the increased speed and responsiveness. This primed my curiousity and cemented my interest in computers.

  2. College

Following my interest in computer I pursed an undergraduate degree in computer scien ... Unsure of what I wanted to do in college, I decided to major in biochemistry following my family background in life sciences. However, primed by my high school experience, I took a few cs classes and found that I enjoyed them. Lacking the conviction at the time, I kept cs as a hobby.

  3. The Web Project

During my senior year of college, I decided to pivot my focus towards cs. Looking to learn and expand my knowledge, I started taking a few online cs courses. Around the same time I began working on a web app for a small business. I was tasked with developing a web scraping application and a website to display the scraped data. I was eagar for a challenge, and I was not disappointed.

Technologies: React, Django, PostgreSQL, AWS, and Docker.

  4. Graduate School

To strengthen my cs background I began looking for further educational opportunities. One specific program caught my attention, the online Master of Computer and Information Technology program at University of Pennsylvania. I applied and was fortunate to be admitted to the program. I have since learned so much spanning from the fundamentals of computer science to the latest technologies in the field. I have even touched on the fundamentals of AI and machine learning. This program has been instrumental in my growth as a software engineer.

  5. Software Engineer

I have had the fortune of landing my first software engineering job at Kohls. In this role, I have worked on various projects utilizing multiple different technologies, received mentorship from senior engineers, and in return mentored junior engineers.

Technologies: NextJs, Spring Boot, MongoDB, Apache Kafka, GCP, and Kubernetes.
